Obituary of A. Daniel Barton

A Daniel Barton, Jr. age 90 of Gwynedd Estates, Ambler, formerly of Wyndmoor, PA. Died June 12, 2014 at the age of 90 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn and 4 loving children: Linda B. Nicholson of Huntingdon Valley, Wesley Ketcham Barton of Blue Hill, ME, Frances B. Tate of Parker, CO and Janice B. Keown of Holderness, NH and 6 grandchildren.

Dan was a graduate of Chestnut Hill Academy Class of 1942 and attended Wesleyan University and University of Michigan prior to enlisting in the Army, and serving in North Africa and Southern Italy during World War II. He was president of O.W. Ketcham, Inc. manufacturers of architectural terra cotta and distributors of structural clay products. Mr. Barton was president of the National Association of Brick Distributors. Also President of the Structural Clay Products Institute. He also served as president of the US Association of Manufacturers of Terra Cotta. Dan was also president of the U.S. Pipe Organ Co.

Mr. Barton was a director of Barton Mines Corporation and was instrumental in turning it into an international corporation. Dan also was a long time member of the Construction Specification Institute, Phila. Chapter and had served as president for 5 years. Dan was a member of the Philadelphia Cricket Club where he enjoyed playing golf and tennis. Past proprietary member of Yacht Club of Stone Harbor where his whole family learned to sail during the many summers spent there. Past member of the Union League of Philadelphia. For many winters, he and his wife and a group of friends went to Europe and skied at as many areas as possible. That was a high light.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28th at 11 am at St. Paul's Church, 22 E. Chestnut Hill Ave. Philadelphia, PA where Dan was a member. He will be remembered for his many abilities and kind hearted ways.
