Obituary

Alaine Mae (Hartranft) Zuck (April 10, 1933 - Dec 21, 2015) Alaine Zuck, 83, of Wyndmoor, formerly of Fort Washington passed in December. Alaine was also preceded in death by her daughter, Donna (Zuck) McShane (8/3/93), and her former husband of 27 years, Ray Arthur Zuck of Lansdale (7/1/14), the father of her four children. Born in Germantown, Alaine was a daughter of the late Harry Hartranft and Olive (Pooley) Hartranft. She is survived by her only sibling, Harriet Ebinger of Oreland.
Raised during the Depression, Alaine developed strong senses of family, resourcefulness, friendships, and adventure. Graduating with honors from Germantown High, Alaine went on to Temple where she was electronics certificated. While working at Philco, Alaine and Ray met, married in May 1953 at 1st Presbyterian of Germantown, and started their family.
Alaine excelled in many challenging hobbies including fine furniture re-finishing & re-upholstery, tapestry & clothing sewing, home/farm garden harvesting & food preservation, oil & acrylic painting, stained glass, wood crafts, and all facets of house restoration and interior decorating. Many benefited from these skilled diversions of hers.
In addition to nurturing her children scholastically, athletically, and spiritually, "Mrs. Zuck" welcomed each their friends into her home and heart, rooted for them from the sidelines.
Annual summer family station-wagon camping trips'' canvassed North America, including all Canadian provinces, Mexico City, countless ventures about the Great Lakes, Florida, and New England and even a roundtrip to Alaska!

Upon moving to Wyndmoor in the 80s, Alaine earned her real estate license and worked nearly two decades with Weichert Realty with emphasis on new home construction sales.
Also surviving are three sons Dale Zuck (Diane) of Munster IN, David Zuck (Teri) of Keller TX, and Dwight Zuck (Sally) of Elk Grove CA. Eight surviving grandchildren include Victoria Seiter (Andrew) and Matthew McShane of Milwaukee, WI, Devin and Garrett Zuck of IN, Jillian and Jonathan Zuck of CA, and Alexa and Jackson Zuck of TX. Also surviving is her first great-grandchild, Wyatt Seiter of WI.
A celebration of Alaine''s life will be held at 12 PM Sat. April 9, 2016 in the Heritage Chapel at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Ave., Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462, where friends may greet the family beginning at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, Mom would prefer that donations be added to "The Donna Ray Zuck Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Award of Plymouth-Whitemarsh H.S." (mail to: Colonial School District Trust Account; 230 Flourtown Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462; Attn: "Zuck Award Fund").
