Obituary of Arthur Clark
CLARK, ARTHUR W. age 91 on July 25, 2008 of Phila. Devoted husband of Mary Bennett Clark; loving father of Anthony Clark and wife Jane Kessler, Elizabeth Pankoe and husband Walter Pankoe, and Alice DeSenneville and husband Marcel DeSenneville; also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Graduate of Germantown Friends School and the University of Pennsylvania. Valued member of Germantown Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends. A man of strong personal and spiritual values and deeply committed to the rights of others. Known for his generosity, kindness and dry sense of humor. Until age 88, an avid jogger and a familiar figure on the GFS and Penn Charter tracks. Mr. Clark was a long time advocate for reform within the Criminal Justice System, and committed to Restorative Justice. Instrumental in starting programs including the PA Program for Women and Girl Offenders, and the Clemency Project. He was recently honored by the PA Prison Society.
