Obituary

Bernice H. Croxton went home to be with the Lord she loved on Thursday November 1st, 2018 at the age of ninety-three.  She was the widow of William M. Croxton, her beloved husband of sixty-seven years.  In death she was at last reunited with her precious son, Tom.  She will be forever missed by her children Bill, Bonnie Crocket and Judy Pry as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family and Friends are invited to her funeral on Wednesday , November 7th, at Windsor Baptist Church, 213 Little Conestoga Road, Uwchland, PA.  Visitation is at 10:00 AM followed by a celebration of Bernie's life at 11:00 AM.

Her Children would like to share a brief tribute to their wonderful mother.  Mom had a difficult childhood after losing her mother at the age of nine, but when she met Dad and they were married in 1946 she had found the love of her life.  She blessed her children with a happy and loving home.  She made our home a shelter from the storms of life and we always knew we could turn to Mom whenever we needed help.  Long after we became adults and left home she was always just a phone call away.  Whether it was help with a sick child, the need to borrow a few dollars , or just a hug when life got rough, Mom was always there for us.

As the years slipped by we would become more aware of the special person Mom was.  She had no one to teach her how to be a good mother, no one to turn to when she needed guidance or encouragement. Her mother wasn't there when she walked down the aisle on her wedding day.  Her mother wasn't there when her babies were born.  There were no family vacations or holiday dinners when she was growing up.  She was determined to give her children everything that she had missed out on as a child.  Holidays at our home were shared with extended family and friend.  She would somehow crowd everyone into our tiny house and cook wonderful dinners.  Everyone loved to come to Uncle Bill and Aunt Bernie's house.  When her grandchildren and great-grandchildren arrived they were blessed with a wonderful grandmother who loved them unconditionally.  Gram was their biggest cheerleader.  They knew they could always count on her support.

In 2012, Mom lost the love of her life and her memory was quickly fading.  We watched Mom become a shadow of the woman she once was.  We've had to make very difficult decisions regarding her care.  We've sat by her side with broken hearts and cried inside, yet we've shared happy times with her as well.  Through it all our family has grown closer and our faith stronger.  We have learned the meaning of "a time to be born and a time to die". We wouldn't have chosen this path for Mom and many times we have asked the Lord shy she had to suffer so long, but thankfully the Lord understands our tears and forgives our doubts. Mom and Dad are once again celebrating life together and we can only imagine what it must be like.  For now we will cherish our memories.  We know Mom, Dad, and Tom will be waiting for us when we, too, are ushered into the Lord's Presence.
