Obituary of Burton Kiphaut
Burton "Burt" Kiphaut died on January 7, 2009. He was age 91.
A retired distribution manager, he was a long time resident of Plymouth Valley and a member of the Plymouth Valley Community Church where he served in various capacities as a Trustee, Deacon, Property Manager and Finance Chairman. He is survived by his wife Pauline, two children and four grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Pierce College and also attended the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School where he majored in transportation. He served as an Ensign in the U.S. Coast Guard in WWII. He was a Member of the Coast Guard League, an honorary member of the Caps First City Troop-Old Guard of the City of Philadelphia and a member of the Centennial Legion of Historic Military Commands.
Active in the community, he was President of the Plymouth Valley Civic Association, President of the Highfield Elementary School PTA and President of the Plymouth-Whitemarsh Home and School Association.
He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America, Valley Forge Council and was founder of Troop 216 at the Plymouth Valley Baptist Church. He served as a member of the Eagle Board and Wood Badge staff. He was awarded the Order of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of the Council History Committee and also Advancemant Chairman of Troop 140 at St. Mark's Lutheran church in Conshohocken.
His hobbies were boating and fishing.
