Carlisle Ross was born in Greenwood, South Carolina, on January 5, 1933. God called him home on Thursday, May 28, 2020, in Montgomery County, PA. He was born to the late Ellen Wise Ross and Wille Jake Ross. Carlisle was the seventh child of this union and was baptized at Pinegrove AME Church in Greenwood, South Carolina. Carlisle continued his spiritual journey at Trinity AME and Carmel Presbyterian Church.
Carlisle was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system, where he graduated from Northeast High School. He served his country in the Air Force. He worked for the government with the Agricultural Department for 35 years until he retired. Carlisle was a very lovable and caring person. He treated everyone with respect and will be sadly missed by all.
Carlisle was very frugal and thrifty. He would do his research through various newspaper circulators from the neighborhood before venturing out to shop to get the best bargains. He would always share his finding of store sales with his sister Lithan and other family members. Carlisle was a meticulous person, he liked things a certain way, and that was that. He was a private person, but he loved going to the Casino and mingling with the crowds after retirement. Carlisle travelled the world and enjoyed taking cruises with his sister Thelma and cousin Minnie. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends in his yard.
Carlisle was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Wise Ross; father, Willie Jake Ross; brothers, Willie Ross and Samuel Ross; sisters, Gertrude Moore, Eula Mae Wideman, Mary Ellen Scott, and Thelma Bonaparte.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sister Lithan Willis, and brother-in-law, Cecil Willis: sisters-in-law, Lula Scott and Shirley Ross: and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
The family thanks everyone, whose numbers are too many to name for their prayers.
