Charles R. Shuman Jr., MD, age 98, of Jenkintown, passed Aug. 20, 2017. Born Sep. 18, 1918 to the late Esther (Graham) and Charles R. Shuman Sr. He was the loving husband of the late Mary (Moss) Shuman for 70 years. He was a renowned physician and educator of Endocrinology with a sub-specialty in diabetes mellitus. Wisdom and compassion defined him. He trained and practiced at Temple University his entire working life (1940-2005) save for his time in the Army from 1946-1948. He was the author of many papers and book chapters regarding his specialty. He educated large numbers of physicians. He saved countless lives. He is predeceased by his sister Annette; and 2 grandchildren.

He is survived by his children Charles R. Shuman III (Mary) and Sandra Desante (Bob); 3 grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. Visitation Wed. Aug. 30, 10-11am, service at 11am, both at the Heritage Chapel at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Ave. Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. Inurnment to follow.
