Beloved husband, father, and brother Charles (Chuck) Stephen Young passed away on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024 due to natural causes resulting from heart complications. Chuck was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 9th, 1947 as the oldest son of the late Charles S. and Marion J. Young.
He attended Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA) gaining BS and MS degrees in Metallurgy & Material Science in 1969 & 1971 respectively. He later attended Ashland University (Ashland, OH) where he earned his MBA in 1986.
Through his accomplishments, Chuck worked as the Business Development Manager for TRICOR Metals for over 14 years of service. He served as VP – Technical for the American Galvanizers Association and was an active member of the Materials Technology Institute (MTI). He was an MTI Board of Directors member since 2018 and a member of multiple Board Committees. Chuck also served as the Co-Chair of three Global Solutions Symposiums, most recently the highly successful 2024 Symposium. In 2022, MTI honored Chuck with a Distinguished Service Award for his accomplishments at MTI, which made a significant impact on the organization and delivered value to the members.
Chuck was a well-rounded individual and lived a life filled with purpose, kindness, and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to his family, career, friends, and the community. Chuck a devoted husband, father, and friend, lived in Virginia Beach with his wife Jacqueline. He enjoyed the beach lifestyle, relaxing, reading, movies, sports and taking care of his dogs. Chuck had a passion for travel and exploring new destinations with his family; his most recent trip to the Maldives became his latest and his most favorite destination. Chuck also enjoyed going to his annual NCAA Men's Basketball tournament trip for over 20 years with his sons and other friends and family and maintained his season tickets to his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers since the early 1970's. Chuck will be deeply missed. His love for life, learning, and relationships left an indelible mark on all who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives he touched.
Chuck is survived by his wife Jacqueline Lawrence; his son Andrew Young (Deborah); his stepdaughter Adrianna Lawrence; his brother and sisters Christina Wysocki (John), Stephen Young (Betsy Smalley), Linda Seidel (James), Leigh Moore (James); numerous nieces and nephews and one granddaughter Reagan Young. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Marion Young and his oldest son Keith Edward Young.
The family will share any information related to a memorial service at a later time.
