Obituary of Charlotte Robinson

Dr. Charlotte Robinson of Chestnut Hill passed away January 3rd, 2011 at Chestnut Hill Hospital. She was 93 years old. Daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie Lynn, Dr. Robinson was born and raised in Long Island. She went on to attend College at American University and later went on to work for several government agencies including the U.S. department of commerce. She met her former husband, the late Dr. Henry W. Robinson, D.D.S. and they moved to Philadelphia in 1944 and remained here to raise their family. After moving to Philadelphia, Dr. Robinson obtained a Bachelor's, M.B.A., and Masters of Education degrees from Temple University. She then went on to earn her Doctorate of Education with her thesis on Educational Technology and Curriculum Development from the University of Pennsylvania. Her career spanned from business to education. She worked in advertising, served as the Managing Director of the Philadelphia Ethical Society and also taught at Simon Gratz High School. Following her time at Simon Gratz she became the Assistant Director for Curriculum Development and Instruction for the Board of Education of Philadelphia. While serving at the Board, Dr. Robinson was a pioneer in developing sponsorship relationships between industry and the school district which led to many internship and overall development opportunities for students. In addition she was recently honored as a Golden Eagle of American University. She is survived by her son Barry K. Robinson and his wife Francine Lamoriello of Cabin John, MD, her daughter Cherylyn Tripp and her husband Victor of Philadelphia, her granddaughter Nicole Tripp and her sister Gwendolyn Smith. She is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
