Chi
Tung
Oct 18, 1935 — Aug 30, 2026
Ambler, PA
Chi Tung, 90, of Ambler, PA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 30, 2026.
Born on October 18, 1935, in Canton, China, Chi was the eldest child of six. In the 1960s, he moved to the United States with his wife, Ru Lin, and eventually settled in the suburbs of Philadelphia. He had several patents throughout his career as a Mechanical Engineer.
For fun, Chi and his wife LOVED to ballroom dance, play mahjong, and enjoy good food. His children fondly remember many festive dancing and mahjong parties (accompanied by delicious food) in the basement of their family home. Even at 90, Chi became a “famous” dancer in his retirement community. Chi’s favorite foods were (good) Chinese food, Kent mangos, and Costco hot dogs.
Outside the house, Chi’s favorite activity was fishing. From catching bass and catfish in the local Green Lane Reservoir to reeling in two muskelunge on the St Lawrence River, Chi loved to battle with fish. However, a frog had the last laugh.
Chi also spent a great deal of time with his family, especially his “soft spots” - his wife, kids, and grandkids - whom he adored. He even taught his grandkids his secret recipes for perfect congee & braised pork and techniques for picking fruit ("pick the ripe ones"). He was also a cherished uncle, in particular to George and Betsy.
Chi is survived by his children, Ramona (and husband, Peter) and Chris (and wife, Diana), and his four main soft spots, Jason, Lauren, Leah, and Alex. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ru Lin.
No service is planned. He would like to be remembered as he was.
