September 11, 1920 – August 28, 2021
Delsa V. Houck passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of Saturday, August 28, 2021 at her daughter's home in Bensalem, PA. She was 100 years old, born on September 11, 1920 in Douglas, GA to the late Micajah J. and Maggie Elva (Mills) Vickers. An active member of the LDS church, she served faithfully over the years in many callings.
In addition to raising a family, Delsa worked in various companies. Ultimately, she retired from the Federal Government after 20 years of service. In retirement she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her only grandson.
Delsa is survived by her daughter, Dianne Houck of Bensalem, PA; son Claude Alfred Houck (Jr) of Las Vegas, NV; grandson David Alexander Houck of Philadelphia, PA; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceeded in death by her husband of 52 years, Claude Alfred Houck (Sr); and 7 siblings. Delsa was the oldest of ten children of which only two remain: Irma Jean Schmidt (Haven) of Maquoketa, IA and Ralph Vickers (Lynne) of Atlanta, GA.
A memorial service will be held at the Heritage Chapel on the grounds of the George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Ave., Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462 on Monday, September 13, 2021 at eleven AM. Her family will receive guests from ten to eleven AM. Mrs. Houck will be placed with her husband at George Washington Memorial Park at a private internment following the service.
It is requested by the family that all who attend are fully vaccinated and wear a mask at all times. Additionally, reasonable social distancing should be observed.
Her children would like to thank the staff from Chandler Hall Hospice for their loving home care. Special thanks to friends and family who also contributed to her care and contentment.
