IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane Robertson
Davis
September 4, 1935 – September 28, 2021
Diane Robertson Davis ("Mom-Mom") of Oreland, PA, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Abington Hospital. She had just celebrated her 86 th birthday. Diane was born on September 4, 1935, in Mineola, NY to the late Charles Herbert Robertson and Lydia Mackey Meagher Robertson.
Diane is survived by her husband of almost 67 years, Rothmeyer "Roddy" Kemp Davis, three children, Scott, Bonny, and Ginger Agnew (John), as well as five grandchildren Jenna Solomon, Jeremy Solomon (Joy), Morgan Agnew (Al Brown), Shannon Agnew (Caleb Agnew), and Erin Agnew (Omeed Firouzi); and three great-granddaughters, Peyton Taylor Solomon, Parker Avery Solomon, and Palmer Kemp Solomon, her newest great-grandchild, Kieran Alexander Agnew-Brown, and her younger sister, Nancy Robertson Bartz, as well as many extended family members, neighbors, and very good friends from near and far all around the world. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Charles Herbert "Buddy" Robertson Jr.
Diane grew up in Roslyn NY, Bloomfield NJ, and in Cheltenham Township, where she lived until 1955 when she finally settled down in Oreland PA and lived with her husband Roddy for 66 years (except for the year that she and Roddy and their 2 very young children lived in Mount Pleasant Iowa while Roddy attended college).
After graduating from Cheltenham High School in 1952, Diane attended West Chester State Teachers College until 1955. Many years (and kids) later, she went back to finish her education at West Chester University. She graduated, with honors in 1984 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
Diane loved teaching but also had many other occupations throughout her life, among them were peeling shrimp at Hobarts in Ocean City NJ, as a receptionist for John Dolan, DDS, and as an events coordinator at Rorer Pharmaceuticals in Fort Washington PA, after which she returned to her first love - teaching.
Diane was an avid reader, and her favorite books were anything in the "Outlander" series. She was thrilled to meet the author of those books, Diana Gabaldon, as well as much of the cast of the television show, several years ago. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles (and even met Will Shortz once). She never missed watching Jeopardy (for which she tried out many times). She loved drawing and painting and writing poems. Her goal was to visit all the Presidents' homes, and she thoroughly enjoyed those that she was able to see. Diane was a Sunday School teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School, a Girl Scout leader, an eager Volunteer and the Chair for the Springfield Chapter of Art Goes to School, and a Judge of Elections at her polling place in Springfield Township. Diane and her family were very active with Children's International Summer Village ("CISV") for more than 40 years. Through that organization and other exchange programs the family housed and met people from all over the world that are now considered part of the family!
Mom-Mom doted on her children, but even more on her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was very proud of all of them, and she just HAD to attend every event (plays, concerts, shows, speeches, presentations, soccer games, graduations, parties, football games, school events, Little League games, parents' weekends at numerous colleges, awards ceremonies, birthday parties, etc.), anything they were involved with or participated in. However, what she loved most was quietly reading to them, or watching everyone splashing and having fun swimming in the pool Roddy built in their backyard almost 60 years ago.
Mom-Mom was very giving, caring, and funny. Up until the very end, she was still cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. The family would like to continue that laughter by having a gathering of friends and family to celebrate Diane's life, on Saturday, October 9 th , 2021 from 11 am until 3 pm at Historic Hope Lodge, 553 South Bethlehem Pike in Fort Washington PA 19034. Please bring your memories and stories to share with everyone. *
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please consider donating to Shane's Kindness Foundation, in memory of Diane. Donations can be mailed to 301 Integrity Ave, Oreland PA 19075 or you can donate online at Shaneskindness.com. Thank you!
