Obituary

Dolores Vinette Malone (nee McKinney) of Philadelphia, PA died peacefully on Wednesday, June 15th with her son by her side after a long battle with cancer. She was 73.
The daughter of the late Andrew McKinney and Mary Ellen McKinney, Dolores was born and raised in North Philadelphia. She graduated from Roberts Vaux Junior High School in 1957 (where she earned Awards of Merit in English, science, mathematics, Spanish, social studies and physical education) and from Murrell Dobbins High School in 1960. Dolores highly valued education for herself and her family, returning to school to earn a bachelor''s degree from Antioch University in 1986 and taking additional graduate level classes. Dolores was the loving and caring wife to the late Richard Malone Sr. for nearly 50 years until his death in 2013.
Dolores worked in a variety of positions, primarily in the field of healthcare, including as an administrative assistant, financial analyst, clinical research associate and project manager for institutions including the City of Philadelphia, Thomas Jefferson Hospital, the University of Pennsylvania, and the American College of Radiology.
Dolores had many passions, including dancing, going to the movies, researching her family history on ancestry.com, and talking to friends and family. She was a great conversationalist, loving to discuss topics as varied as politics, philosophy, and the latest reality television shows with friends and family, and touched many people with her keen insights.
Dolores'' memory will be cherished by her son Richard Malone Jr. and daughter-in-law Stephanie, grandchildren Derek, Tessa, and Conner, siblings Ruth Alsop and her husband Phil, and Elaine Waldschmidt and her husband Randy, brother-in-law David Malone and his wife Joan, sisters-in-law Jeannette McCorkle and her husband Frank, and Doris Sawyer, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Other siblings included the late Naomi Taylor, Bernice Gaines, and Joel McKinney.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, June 20th from 10 am at the Kirk & Nice Funeral Home, 80 Stenton Ave. Plymouth Meeting, PA where services will be held at 11 am. Interment to follow at Ivy Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
