Obituary of Donald Carter
Donald R. Carter, age 83, died suddenly on March 4 at his residence at Normandy Farms Estates in Blue Bell, PA. Don was raised in Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army Corps during World War II and saw military action in the South Pacifice. A graduate of the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music, he held a Bachelor of Music Deggree in piano and a Masters in Musicology Degree, with a minor in organ. He was a member of the faculty of the Wilmington Music School, where he taught both organ and piano for twenty-five years. At various times, Don served as a Acting Director or Associate Director of that School. He performed numberous recitals throughout the Philadelphia area, including Irvine Auditorium and the Academy of Music. For over forty years, Don was the organist of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Philadelphia. For a period, he was the First Reader of that church. Most recently, Don was a member and organist of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Berwyn. He will be missed by his many friends.
