Doris O'Donnell passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at her residence in Plymouth Meeting. She was born on August 31, 1927 in Philadelphia to the late Thomas and Josephine McGovern.

A longtime resident of Philadelphia, she graduated from St. Hubert's High School in 1944. After graduation she worked for PSFS bank, enjoyed vacationing and taking cruises with her friends and dancing on Saturday nights at various dance halls throughout the city. She married Frank in 1958, who she met at a dance, and together they started their family in 1959. She left the work force to raise her family and rejoined the workforce when her kids were in their early teens first as a retail clerk, then as a dental office receptionist and finally as a hospice volunteer.  After both she and Frank became too frail to remain in Philadelphia they both moved to Plymouth Meeting to live with their daughter in 2015.

Doris lived her last five years bringing joy to everyone she met. She faced her death full of
life and laughter, was well provided for, and was as carefree as anyone could be. Her
vision was clear and her eyes as bright as when she was a child and she utilized that
vision and those eyes to see the beauty and wonder in the world. She enjoyed the Jersey
shore every summer during each of her years in Plymouth Meeting. She would ride in a
surrey on the boardwalk, play Scrabble at night (and win) and enjoy watching the ocean
from the dining table while looking through binoculars. She was happy, and gracious and
thanked everyone for every little thing they did for her.

Doris is survived by her children, daughters Carolyn and Genny, and her sons Gregory
(Helen) and Philip (Sue). Also surviving are her sister Mary Rossi and fourteen nieces and
nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank X.
O'Donnell who passed away in 2015, and her sister Genevieve McCann.

Doris' funeral service will be held at St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, 219 Fayette St.,
Conshohocken, PA 19428 on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 10:30 AM. Her family
will receive visitors from 9:30 to 10:20 AM at the church. Burial will be private at the
request of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doris' honor to the
