Eberhard B. Cimijotti (Abe) age 93, of Coatesville, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Born on February 24, 1931 in Mason City, Iowa, he was the son of Eberhard F. and Loretta Cimijotti. He was a graduate of Holy Family High School. After high school, Abe served in the United States Navy for 4 years from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean conflict. Abe married Marilyn Clark in 1956. He then received his Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State in1959. Abe and Marilyn moved to East Greenbush, NY where they raised their seven children and he spent over 30 years with Sterling Winthrop Research Institute as a research microbiologist. While in NY, he earned his Master's degree at the College of Saint Rose in 1966. Upon retirement, Abe and Marilyn moved to Florida and later to Pennsylvania. Together, they traveled around the United States and overseas to the United Kingdom, Canary Islands, and Ireland. Abe also traveled to Australia and Mauritius. Abe had many interests. He enjoyed playing cribbage, cards, gardening, wood working, and traveling. He was a genealogy enthusiast, took great pride in his family heritage, and connected with extended family around the U.S. and globally (Mauritius, Australia, and Germany). Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Abe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He always offered a warm hug or handshake, made everyone feel welcome, and loved to converse and share a memory or story of the past. At all stages of his life Abe was actively involved in the community, including as a Little League coach, 4-H leader, and Fyfe & Drumm Corp leader. Abe was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Coatesville. He served in the Knights of Columbus for many years and had the honor of being a Grand Knight.
Abe is survived by his children: Cynthia Cimijotti of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Christopher Cimijotti of Albany, NY, Charles Cimijotti of Bucharest, Romania, Jonathan Cimijotti (Tammy) of East Greenbush, NY, Michelle Steinbrecher (John) of Downingtown, PA, Stephen Cimijotti (Jessica Gutierrez) of Breinigsville, PA and Joseph Cimijotti of Faribault, MN. His grandchildren: Vincent Cimijotti, Heather DelRossi (Terry), Alana Halper (Alex), Corey Cimijotti, John Steinbrecher, and Dawson Cimijotti. His great grandchildren: Graham and Madison DelRossi and Thomas Halper. Abe is predeceased by his loving wife Marilyn of 66 years, his parents Eberhard F. and Loretta Cimijotti, and his brother Raymond Cimijotti. We would like to thank Harrison House of Chester County for their love and support during Abe's time there.
