January 24, 1951 – July 16, 2024
Edward G Schnell Jr, born on January 24, 1951 passed away on July 16, 2024 after a short 4 month battle with liver cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Edward grew up in the Andorra section of Philadelphia and graduated from Roxborough High School in 1968. In 1973 he married his high school sweetheart, Gail. He served for 6 years in the Air Force division of the National Guard in the Air Weather Service. They lived in Philadelphia until 1986 when the family moved to Hatfield.
After graduating from high school he started working in the mail room at the Budd Company in Philadelphia. After many years he worked his way up to Data Processing Analyst. At 49 years old he was fortunate enough to retire after 30 years at the Budd Company. After retiring from the Budd Company he worked at multiple companies including Snyders Hardware, Heavener Supply, Roslyn Supply but his favorite was his final job with Bergey's Chevrolet transporting cars which he worked at up until the time he got sick.
Edward had many interests including singing in the Acapella group the North Pennsmen Chorus as well as the church choir. He was an avid gardener, loved biking, riding his Harley, playing golf, and traveling with his wife. He was very involved with his church, Chalfont United Methodist Church, where he served as a lay leader and was always willing to step up to help out wherever needed. You could always catch him on Sunday afternoons or weeknights watching his beloved Phillies! But most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren could always find him at band concerts, marching band competitions, or in the stands at sporting events and at dance recitals. He was their biggest fan.
Edward is survived by his wife of 50 years Gail Williams Schnell, his son Edward G Schnell III, (wife Joanie), his daughter Amanda Schnell Martin (husband Robert), sister Olivia Schnell VanOsten from Hatfield (husband James), sister Lori Schnell Ryan from Harleysville (husband Robert), his grandchildren Aiden, Gracie, and Leah. He was also survived by his many nieces and nephews, as well as his fur son, Rudy Magoo! He is preceded by his parents Edward and Lenore Schnell and his brother Frederick Schnell.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Chalfont United Methodist Church, 11 Meadowbrook Lane, Chalfont, PA 18914 or The American Cancer Society.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, July 27th, 2024 from 9:30 am until 11:00, when services will begin at Chalfont United Methodist Church, 11 Meadowbrook Lane, Chalfont, PA 18914.
