Obituary of Elizabeth Wilson
Life Story
Elizabeth G. Wilson was born in Washington Wilkes County, Georgia on July 28, 1912 to the late Pete and Hattie Gartrell. She was the 12th of 13 siblings who preceded her in death. She was educated in Washington, Georgia graduating from Washington High School.
Libby, as she was affectionately known, migrated to Philadelphia in the early 1940's where she met and married Arthur Wilson. She was employed at the Navy Yard for many years. She retired from Asher's Candy Factory after 40 years.
Although she had no children of her own, she loved her numerous nieces and nephews, of six generations, raising Kristopher Purnell as her own.
On Saturday, March 29th, the angel of God opened the gates of heaven and our own Heavenly Father smiled upon Aunt Libby and summoned her from her home to a shelter of tenderness and eternal love.
Remaining to rejoice in her precious memories are her loving nieces, nephews and friends.
