Ethel C. Wilson, of Plymouth Meeting , PA, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022 at age 94. This enduring family matriarch is survived by three of her five children Gary N eal , Timothy Guy , and David Henry , daughters-in-law Jo A nn, Diane, and Rose, her ten grandchildren David, Christy Lynn, Jennifer, Jessica, Nathan, Amy, Kyle, Timothy, Rosie, and Felicia, her 9 great - grandchildren Ryan, Nicole, Sean, Desiree, Kayden, Kol, Chloe, Zoey, and Kenley, and a great - great - grandchild, Raiden. Preceding her in death are her husband, Ernest Paul II, parents Willis and Florentina, brother Albert, and children Sharon Lee and Ernest Paul III.
Ethel was born on December 16 th , 1927 in Freeport, NY. Despite growing up during the Great Depression and losing her mother at an early age, Ethel, ever the optimist, would often regale family and friends with all the cherished memories of her time on Long Island, particularly trips to Jones Beach and the fateful day when she met the love of her life, Ernie. Th ey were married in 1947, and for the next 52 years until his passing in 1999, they grew and nurtured a family founded on disciplined hard work, boundless compassion, and faith in the Word of God.
While Ethel dedicated her life to unconditionally loving her family, she always maintained a ffections for both trivia and sports. She was a star field hockey player at Freeport High School, from which she graduated in 1945. Later, she continued enjoying all manner of athletics well into her 80's where she won multiple local senior Olympic events and bowling league titles. Her competitive spirit could also be seen in the innumerable card, trivia, and word games played at every holiday ; a tradition that will live on in the homes of each family member as they look back with love in their hearts at the woman who taught them to play.
Family and friends are invited to attend a closed casket Visitation at 10:30AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Kirk and Nice Funeral Home, 80 Stenton Ave, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. A Prayer Service will commence at 11:30 AM, with i nterment to follow at 12:15PM in George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Fairview Village Church or Lutheran Community at Telford.
