Evelyn M. Missimer, age 80 of Phoenixville, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
Born in Norristown, PA to the late Harry Hacker Miksch and Rachel Batty Miksch, Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Pottstown. She was preceded in death by her brother Jack and sisters; Betty Lou, and Ginger. Evelyn graduated from Norristown High School where she participated in Basketball and Field Hockey. In later years Evelyn began night school for business administration, and became an administrative assistant for General Electric until her retirement.
She had married and started a family where she had two children. Evelyn divorced and met the late Leonard D. Missimer. They married and combined their family in 1985. Evelyn was a board member of Penn Christian School, secretary at Penn Square Community Church, developed Christian Couples Group, held leadership roles in Christian Women's Club, and facilitated Women's Home Bible Studies. She enjoyed spending time at the pool, sporting events and family holidays with her children and grandchildren. Evelyn and the late Leonard enjoyed traveling the USA. They had traveled through every state with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii. Her words regarding their relationship were: "We've had a full and abundant life together. Filled with joy, love, excitement, learning and serving…HOW GOOD IS OUR GOD".
Daughter of the late Harry Hacker Miksch and Rachel Batty Miksch; Devoted wife of the late Leonard D. Missimer. Evelyn is survived by her loving children, Daughters: Shirley Exley, Eleanor, Patricia (James Cochran), Carol Snyder, and Sons: Leonard Jr. (Debbie), David (Pam), and Michael; beloved grandchildren: Remington (Kaetha Mark), Jaid (Kevin McLaughlin), Mia (Josh Pless), Scott Exley Jr., Thomas, Brian (Sara), Steven (Cyndi), and Mark Snyder, Ryan and Hannah Claypole, Claire Missimer, William Missimer, Melisa (Michael Romano), and Paul DeVito; 11 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins that will remember her by fond memories. Also Remembering those children who had passed all too soon; Scott Exley, James Missimer, and Diana Claypole.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Evelyn's graveside service at George Washington Memorial Park on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Evelyn's name may be made to New Ridge Fellowship (Children's Programs) 2211 Swamp Pike, Gillbertsville, PA 19525 (610) 323-2353.
