IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Girard
Senick
April 23, 1941 – October 15, 2023
Girard "Jerry" Steven Senick, age 82, passed away at home on Sunday October 15, 2023. He passed away, keys in hand, ready to embark on another adventure.
Jerry was born on April 23, 1941, in Larksville, Pa., to Sophia Ann
Piszczek and Adam Steven Senick. He was the husband of Rebecca Ellen
Cookson Senick. They were together for 55 years and married for over
50 years. They met in college and never looked back. They spent the rest of
their lives raising their children Jennifer Lynn and Timothy Martin and
going on amazing adventures together. Jerry was an educator for much
of his younger life, but he became a businessman later in life and
started a thriving pool and spa business after he and Cookie "retired"
from teaching. Jerry spent his life with his family traveling, collecting
art, reading (especially thrillers and mysteries), gaining (and sharing)
knowledge, and of course he loved to play his games. Be it Yahtzee or
craps, he loved games and puzzles. He was an accomplished college
wrestler, an interest he shared with his son Tim and his grandson
Ethan. Thankfully Jerry got to see Ethan compete and win many of his
matches. Jerry was well known for his generosity, humor, infectious
laugh, and doggedness. He kept working until he passed, a fact he was
very proud of. He never stopped trying to help those he loved.
Jerry was sadly preceded in death by his amazing wife Cookie. His sister
Madelyn Correll sadly passed away the week before Jerry passed. He is
survived by his children, and his grandson. In addition to his immediate
family, Jerry spent his life surrounded by friends, colleagues, and many
extended family members. He is also survived by every person he
worked with, taught with, laughed with, and traveled with. We will
miss the way he rubbed his hands together and jumped up and down
when he was excited. We will miss his infectious laugh and the way he
said hello ("yell-ow!") when he answered the phone. We will miss
everything about him.
"To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die."
"Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened."
