IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harriet Royer
Beegle
November 20, 1939 – November 12, 2021
Harriet Royer Beegle passed away peacefully on Nov 12, 2021, following a prolonged illness. Born in Rochester, NY in 1939, Harriet was a DAR and a descendent of our founding fathers. She attended the Columbia Preparatory School for Girls in Rochester, Vassar College and received her degree in Political Science from the University of Rochester.
In 1963, Harriet moved to Chestnut Hill, and the Philadelphia area has been her home ever since. She married, and happily re-married, the late Frederick N. (Fritz) Beegle, II.
She had a very successful professional career as a Consumer and Pharmaceutical Market Research executive with many prominent local firms. Throughout her career, the Campbell Soup Company had remained her most longstanding client, and was also a former employer. Harriet was elected National President of the Market Research Association, on whose board she served for fifteen years. In her earlier years, she was also an active member of the Junior League of Rochester, and later its Philadelphia Chapter.
She was fiercely devoted to her friends and highly respected among her professional colleagues. She especially enjoyed her family, entertaining, gardening, spending time at the Finger Lakes, her year and a half living in London, England, cruising, and cooking. She was a former member of the Philadelphia Aviation Country Club and Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club in Beach Haven, NJ.
Harriet is survived by her beloved daughter, Mary Gwendyn (Wendy) Mellor, and her pride and joy, her two grandchildren, Michael Carrington Mellor, II and Kane Elizabeth (Ellie) Mellor, as well as her stepchildren, Andrea Beegle Broido (Tom), Frederick N Beegle, III (Tracy) and Pamela Neel, four step grand- and three great-grandchildren.
A private family service and gathering will be held to honor and celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in her memory to the 'Light up a Life' program sponsored by the Wissahickon Hospice, to which Harriet gave each year in memory of her late husband.
