IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harriet
Powell
January 7, 1915 – June 22, 2020
Harriet Powell was born on January 7, 1915, in Trappe Maryland to the late Alice Smith and Andrew Mills and was 1 of 13 children. Harriet was raised in Northwest Philadelphia and received her education from William Penn High School and graduated in 1933. During her schooling, she learned many languages including French and Yiddish. Harriet retired after 32 years of employment as a dorm advisor and librarian at Temple University. After retiring she returned to her home state in Maryland in 1986 where she enjoyed the beautiful farmland in Trappe Maryland with the peace and quiet she didn't get in city life.
She married the love of her life George Powell and from this union, three children were born, Raymond, Jean, and Muriel. She leaves behind many great memories to cherish.
She had many interests and hobbies which included dancing (the Bop), pinochle, watching movies and game shows, and also good laughs with family and friends. For the past 20 years, she has enjoyed going to the Life Center in Germantown where she would socialize and engage with other aged people a few days a week. 80 is the new 100 I guess, because she lived to be 105 years of age and, preceded in death by her parents. Leaving behind not only many memories but her 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchild, and 12 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other close relatives.
The family of the Late Harriet A. Powell acknowledges with heartfelt appreciation the many comforting messages floral tributes and other expressions of kindness evident in thought and in deeds during this bereavement. Harriet was called home to the Lord on June 22, 2020... Gone but never forgotten.
