Harry Fredrick (Hank) Hanczar Sr. of Edgewater Park, NJ passed away peacefully June 14, 2022, at the age of 86 years old at Cambridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Moorestown, NJ. Harry was born November 12, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pa.
Harry is survived by his loving wife LaVerna Ivy Hanczar (Moore), his children, Victoria, Karen and Harry Jr, his grandchildren Keith (Lauren), Brittany (Jonathan), Samantha, great grandchildren Mason and Grace LaVerna and his sisters Patricia (James) and Ann.
Harry was happily married to LaVerna for 65 years. They had their home built in Edgewater Park, NJ in 1960 and have lived there for the past 62 years. Harry was a member of the Edgewater Park Jaycees always volunteering to offer a helping hand. Harry volunteered as a poll worker during elections. He was a dedicated member of the St. Paul's Methodist Church in Willingboro, serving as an usher for many years.
Harry joined the Navy after high school, serving on the USS Lake Champlain (CV/CVA/CVS-39 ).
While home on leave Harry met LaVerna by chance at a dance in their hometown of Philadelphia. They were married May 18, 1957.
Harry was a Union Electrician and a member of Local Union #98 for 55 years working new construction in Philadelphia. Harry worked at One Liberty Place, Two Liberty Place, Philadelphia International Airport and numerous other sites, often working along side his daughter Karen for some 20+ years.
Harry was a member of Houseman Lodge No. 211, Bristol, Pa. Harry served as Worshipful Master in 1985 at Kensington Lodge, Philadelphia. In his later years Harry was also a member of Beverly-Riverside No. 107 F&AM in NJ.
Harry was an avid surf fisherman. Harry and LaVerna enjoyed many vacations at Cape Hatteras and the Jersey shore fishing. Harry was a member of the "NJ Beach Buggy Association" and the "Happy Hookers Fishing Club".
Harry and LaVerna enjoyed traveling and taking vacations with their family and friends. In his free time, Harry while his children were growing up enjoyed coaching girl's softball, refereeing boy's basketball, camping, horseback riding with his daughters and son, target practice at the rifle range, fishing and boating.
Friends and family are invited to his viewing on June 30, 2022 from 12:00 PM followed by his funeral service at 1:00 PM at the Heritage Chapel of George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, Pa. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park.
