Irene Amanda (Miller) Meyer, Nana, received her angel wings on January 4, 2021. She died peacefully at age 101 at Simpson House in Philadelphia, PA, her home for seven years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Lewis C. Meyer; and son Ronald E. Meyer. Surviving are her son Lewis M. Meyer (Patricia) of Painesville, Ohio; grandchildren Ronald Meyer Jr., Suzette Decker, Amanda Thayer (Adrian), Lisa Syster (Jeff), and Melinda Geschke (Patrick); eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Many of these relatives attended a fantastic 100 ^th Birthday Party / Family Reunion for Nana in August 2019. She will be missed.

Irene Miller was born in South Williamsport, PA, on August 1, 1919 to Olive (Plank) and Benjamin F. Miller, and graduated from S. Williamsport HS. She graduated from the Methodist Hospital of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA. She married Lewis C. Meyer in 1944, and after his service in the Army they settled in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia to raise their family. Irene worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years, most of those at Frankford Hospital. She was a long-time active member at Arch Street United Methodist Church, and served on many committees and United Methodist Women projects. She was a "counter" for the finance committee on Sunday mornings, a position she held until after she moved to Simpson House.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, family only arrangements were made by Kirk & Nice Funeral Home. Interment will be at George Washington Memorial Park, next to her husband and son. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Arch Street UMC or Simpson House Continuing Care Fund.
