IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacob Frederick
Nederostek " The Chief"
February 20, 1922 – March 17, 2022
Jacob Frederick Nederostek (the "Chief") was called by Our Lord to Him early on March 17, 2022. He had just celebrated his 100 th Birthday but fell to a short and unexpected illness. He was the husband to the late Marie (Giera) Nederostek and the s o n of the late Andrew and Catherine ( Kacmarcik ) Nederostek. He was predeceased by his 12 brothers and sisters. Surviving are his sons James Nederostek and Eugene Nederostek (Lisa); grandchildren Jason Michael Nederostek (Michelle), Kristen Marie Huymaier (Elvis), Christopher Michael Nederostek (Caroline), Lauren Amanda Byrne (Daniel); great grandchildren Victoria Eileen Huymaier, Elizabeth Marie Huymaier, Chloe Grace Nederostek.
Jake was born and raised in Cementon in the Lehigh Valley. He attended local schools and worked in the cement plant before joining the Coast Guard in 1942 during the Second World War. Joining him in service to their country were two brothers, Michael and Emil. Upon discharge from the Coast Guard in 1947 Jake transitioned to the US Navy (Reserve) and provided another 30 years of service, reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
After marrying his wife Marie in 1947 they settled in suburban Philadelphia, living and working in the Conshohocken/Norristown area as a young married couple . They subsequently started a family and raised their sons in Plymouth Meeting. During this time Ja ke attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Conshohocken and was active in the Holy Name Society. He was a volunteer coach in the Whitemarsh Township Little League Baseball program long after his sons were eligible to play. Jake worked in various manufacturing and distribution businesses over the years and retired as a warehouse supervisor.
After retiring, Jake and Marie explored this country by way of various tour groups, ultimately making their way to Hawaii. Locally they also enjoyed trips to the Atlantic City casinos which ironically was where they met many years before when he was training after enlisting in the Coast Guard. At the casinos Jake did more watching and chatting with other visitors than he did gambling. He had a subtle, quiet charm that endeared him to so many people. After 62 years of marriage, he made his way to his last home at Arbour Square in Harleysville. This provided an opportunity for a whole new community of people to be enamored of this quiet, lovable man.
The Chief was a loving husband, devoted to his family and his faith, and someone who had a bright smile and mischievous grin that you will always remember . Our hearts are full of his love and wonderful memories of him that will stay with us forever.
