James F. McCormick, Sr., age 89 of Chester Springs, PA passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

Born and raised in Delaware and Philadelphia counties, PA, Jim lived in a variety of locations throughout his life including Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, New York, New Jersey, Vermont, and a short period in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army.

For much of his life, he worked in heavy construction equipment sales and management. He married his devoted wife, Diane Dickinson McCormick, in 1964, and they started their family in 1965 with daughter Dawn and then welcomed son James, Jr. in 1970. In August 2024, Jim and Diane celebrated 60 years of marriage, still remembering fondly how it was love at first sight on a blind date that started it all. He was a cherished husband, father, and granddad. His role as Granddad was one of his favorites. Jim loved driving his grandchildren, Ryan, Connor, and Kylie as a senior chauffeur and watching them at sporting events.

Jim was a man of many talents and hobbies, including gardening, wood-working, showing quarter horses, fishing, motorboating, and riding Harleys. Drifting on a boat with his family, sunglasses on and Pepsi in hand, in a New Jersey bay with lines in the water for flounder was a favorite pastime. He and Diane traveled together, with two of their last trips being to Italy and Ireland. Above all else, Jim loved spending time with his family. At the 2023 family Christmas gathering, Jim and his family celebrated his receiving his Irish passport and citizenship.

Jim will be remembered as a man of action, always willing to come to someone's rescue, step in to help, and stand with family and friends in times of need.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Diane Dickinson McCormick; beloved children, Dawn E. McCormick (partner M. Christine O'Neill) and James F. McCormick, Jr. (wife Maureen R. McCormick), grandchildren Ryan Patrick, Connor James, and Kylie Elizabeth McCormick; siblings Mary McCormick Marchini and Barb McCormick McKinley, as well as many nieces and nephews to share fond memories. His beloved sister Charlene "Chickie" McCormick Cawley passed away before him in August 2024.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jim' funeral mass at 11:00 am on Friday, January 31, 2025, at St. Elizabeth's, 110 Saint Elizabeth Drive, Chester Springs, PA 19425.

Friends may call at the church from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m.
