Obituary of James Neithercott
James E. Neithercott, 65, died suddenly Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 in Largo Medical Center, Largo, Fla.
Jim would have celebrated his 66th birthday on Sept. 30. He was born to John W. Neithercott and Lillian "Betty" (Cleaver), in Germantown, PA, where he resided throughout his childhood and young adult life. His life path was briefly disrupted by service in the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. Jim spent his later young years and middle-age years residing in Willow Grove, Pa.
Jim worked for 30 years for DRS Technologies (which had changed various names and divisions throughout his working life), as an Electronic Engineer Technician. Most recently, Jim relocated for a temporary stint working for DRS Technologies in Largo, Florida. He was due to retire in 2015.
Anyone who knew Jim would say he had the "gift of gab". He told many stories about his life experiences, which were most varied, to say the least. He had the greatest sense of humor and the most beautiful blue eyes. He was surely an optimist and looked on life as a time to explore and enjoy. He loved nature and was often with his camera taking breathtakingly beautiful pictures. He often spoke fondly of his childhood, his parents and his brother and sister.
Jim married his wife, Maria E. (Beekman), in 1994 and provided her with the kindness, security, strength and love that only he could provide. He became a grandfather to his step-son's and daughter's-in-law baby, Maria Lynn McCafferty who had not yet reached her 1st birthday. He was the "best" husband, in the world, and he will be sorely missed by his wife and all who loved and knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Maria (Beekman); step-son Kevin J. McCafferty (Sheri); granddaughter Maria L.; sister Constance "Connie" Alexander (Joseph); brother John "Jack" Neithercott (Kathy); several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents John & Lillian Neithercott.
Donations, in Jim's name, can be sent to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH 03086.
