Jean H. Starr Obituary

Jean H. (nee Powell), loving wife of the late Woodrow Starr, of Willow Valley Lakes Retirement Community, Willow Street, PA. She is survived by 2 nieces, Dorothea Dees of Riverview, Florida and Suzanne Weathers of Bon Secour, Alabama and nephew James Czyz (Emily) of North Wales, PA.

She was born in Shenandoah, PA the daughter of the late Byron Powell and Elizabeth (nee Baker). She spent most of her life as a bookkeeper to several companies and mainly for her husbands'' business, Starr Auto Body, of Philadelphia.

She and Woody lived in Ambler, PA for many years where they entertained family and friends on many occasions. They lived in an old stone colonial era home where they lovingly maintained the grounds and built an in-ground pool and beautiful flower garden with a large gazebo where they enjoyed many picnics. Their love for family was second only to their love of God. They attended church regularly including many years at Faith Community Church in Roslyn, PA.

They then moved to a beautiful new home which they had built in Red Hill, PA. They enjoyed living there for years, but as they grew older and friends told them of their enjoyment of the Willow Valley Retirement Community they decided to move there.

In 1988, they moved to the Lakes location of the Willow Valley Retirement Community. They enjoyed a beautiful multiple bedroom apartment there for over 25 years where they continued to entertain family and all of the many new friends that they meant there.
