John Macklin Roberts, age 95, of Lafayette Hill, PA, passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 31, 2021. Born on June 4, 1926, in Revloc, Pennsylvania, to the late Alfred Roberts and Clara Klingensmith where he attended Ebensburg Cambria High School. John proudly served in the United State Navy before entering Yale University, where he received both his undergraduate and medical degrees.  John did his surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania where he specialized in vascular surgery. John served both as President of the Medical Staff and the Chair of Surgery at Chestnut Hill Hospital during his service there, retiring in 1991. John was one of the founding members of the Northwest Surgical Associates.

He was involved in various professional associations, including FACS, PA Medical Society, PA Thoracic Society, Philadelphia Academy of Surgery, the Philadelphia College of Physicians and the AMA. He enjoyed tennis, squash, and skiing, traveling, choir singing and playing the trumpet.

John is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Roberts (Kern); sister, Margaret Rose; stepsons, John Kern and Stephen Kern; brothers-in-law, Charles Edward Lukens and Lee Crandall Park.

He is predeceased by first wife, Margaret Lukens; his dear friend, Louise Regan, and siblings, Kay, Alfred, Eleanor and Barbara.

All are invited to a funeral service on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church, 35 West Chelten Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 24 at 2pm at the Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 US Avenue, Culpeper, VA.
