Obituary

On October 3, 2025, Joseph Francis Cooper Jr. passed away peacefully at the age of 59. Born on August 24, 1966, in Philadelphia, Joe was the eldest of three sons to Agnes (née Howard) and the late Joseph F. Cooper Sr., both lifelong Philadelphians.

Joe grew up in the Bustleton neighborhood during the 1970s and 80s, attending Maternity B.V.M. Elementary School and Archbishop Ryan High School. From a young age, he cultivated deep friendships and shared countless adventures with his brothers and many cousins. His childhood was filled with basketball, baseball, fishing, and memorable ski trips—first locally, then abroad in Austria. He adored his dog Hunter and cherished time spent outdoors and in the kitchen, especially barbecuing for family gatherings.

As a teenager, Joe worked at Tiffany's Diner and alongside his father at Flag Contracting. When he learned to drive, his parents gifted him a cherished 1967 Chevy Nova.

Throughout his life, Joe was a passionate supporter of Philadelphia sports, proudly holding tickets to countless games across the city's beloved "big four" teams—Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers.

After high school, Joe attended RETs Electronic School and began his career in IT with Harron Communications. It was there he met Lori, who would become his beloved wife. They married on December 31, 1996, at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, ringing in the new year with a joyful celebration.

Together, Joe and Lori raised their children—Jaclyn, Molly, and Ryan—immersing themselves in their lives through sports like gymnastics, softball, and football. Family vacations took them to the Jersey Shore, the Caribbean, and Portugal, creating lasting memories.

Joe faced heartbreak when Lori passed away at just 49, a loss that brought profound challenges. Yet through it all, he remained devoted to his children, proudly witnessing their growth and achievements through high school and college. In his final days, Joe reflected that his greatest accomplishment was being a father.

Joe is survived by his loving mother Agnes, his children Molly and Ryan, and his stepdaughter Jaclyn. He was a cherished brother to Kenneth (Veronica) and Michael (Mary), and a proud uncle to Haley, Jack, Caroline, Michael, and Owen.

Joe's life was marked by love, loyalty, and a deep commitment to family and friends. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
