Obituary

Joseph C. DiFabio, "Joe", 72, of Flourtown PA, passed away peacefully on September 6 at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Community Living Center in Philadelphia after a battle with cancer.

Joe was born in Philadelphia to Joseph and Georgetta DiFabio on May 28, 1943. He attended high school in Philadelphia, and earned his GED after joining the military. Joe served in the Army during Vietnam. After receiving an honorable discharge, he worked as a mechanic and co-owner of an Exxon gas station. He went on to become a self-employed shop owner. After retiring, Joe worked part time at PetSmart, specializing in fish care. Joe was an avid gardener, and often brought friends and family members home-grown tomatoes and plants from his garden. He also enjoyed raising fish, especially angel fish, as well as spending time down the shore.

Joe is survived by his beloved partner Mary Louise Haines of Flourtown, his daughters Colleen DiFabio Papazian (wife of Gary) of Willow Grove and Jaclyn Davidson (wife of Richard) of Downingtown, as well as a sister Georgette Weaber of Aldan, Pa. In addition, Joe has several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Patricia DiFabio.

The family will hold a visiting hour at Kirk & Nice Funeral Home in Plymouth Meeting on Sunday, September 13 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. A memorial service to celebrate Joe''s life will be held following the visitation.

The family would like to thank the Corporal Michael J Crescenz VA Medical Center, specifically the Heroes'' Crossing Hospice and Palliative Care Unit, for the excellent care and compassion extended to Joe during his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Joe''s name to Michael J Crescenz VAMC, 3900 Woodland Avenue (135), Philadelphia, PA 19104.
