Obituary of Kate Shaffmaster

Mrs. Kate Shaffmaster of Philadelphia passed away on February 9th, 2011. She was 92. Kate was a well known theater director in the Philadelphia area. She was also an acting teacher and worked as a stage manager and director for the Cincinatti Music Drama Guild. She also worked for the Barter Theater Company during the depression. In addition, Kate along with her husband was a founding member of the Allens Lane Arts Center in Philadelphia. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederic H. Shaffmaster, Loving mother of Frederic H., Jr. (Lansdale), Eric T. (Patricia), Kristina H. Meredith and Lisa H. Shaffmaster. Grandmother of Gabriel H. Fowler, Nicholas D. Shaffmaster, Christian H. Shaffmaster, Heidi N. Shaffmaster-Riggs, Chrystie L. Wear, Erica M. Shaffmaster and Bronwyn E. Umphrey, and Caitlin T. Meredith. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in her name to Women''s International League for Peace and Freedom at 612 Arbutus St. Philadelphia, PA. 19119-3504.
