Obituary

Kerry S. Janetka passed away on October 31, 2022, at the age of 49. She was born to Carl and Kathleen (Durkin) Janetka in Abington, PA. She was joined in death by her father Carl Janetka in 2022, who passed on November 5, 2022.
A 1990 graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, Kerry was an excellent athlete and participated in several sports including softball, field hockey and gymnastics. She was particularly exceptional as a softball pitcher. After high school, Kerry attended the University of Delaware for a period, where she spent one semester in school at the same time as her brother Eric and had many great moments spending time together, which sometimes included her other brother Karl, who also had attended the University of Delaware. Kerry also attended cosmetology school. After the University of Delaware, Kerry began working in various fields and spent several years working in the Lancaster area, a place she really loved. However, more important than any career Kerry ever pursued, her most important role was as caregiver to her father Carl for many years at her childhood home in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Kerry was an enormous help to her mother Kathleen especially as Carl's mobility began to decline later in his life. Kerry lovingly and unselfishly gave her time and effort to assist her parents, rather than fully pursuing her own interests. The help and care that Kerry gave was invaluable. Another very important role that Kerry had was being aunt to her niece and nephew Brian Janetka and Alexandra Janetka. She loved and cherished both more than could ever be measured. Kerry also had many friends, too numerous to mention them all but had several longstanding friendships from her childhood including Nicole, Eva, and her friend Chrissy whom she met from her days in the Lancaster area. Kerry's love for her friends (and their children) was very evident by the mementos and pictures that she kept of them in her memento drawer. Kerry was intelligent with a quick wit and excellent sense of humor that her friends and family very much adored and appreciated. Kerry was a connoisseur of 1980s era rap and hip hop music and loved the Philadelphia Phillies, especially the late 2000's era teams. She was also a big fan of Tug McGraw. Kerry religiously followed many television series, including Married with Children and In Living Color. Kerry also had great interest in cosmetics and skin care.
Kerry is survived by her mother Kathleen, brother Karl (Meaghan) and Eric (Julie), niece Alexandra and nephew Brian, aunt Lorraine (Glenn) Bowen, cousins Derek and Brett (Nina) Bowen – all of whom loved her and miss her enormously.
Family and friends are invited to attend a joint memorial service (Kerry and father, Carl) on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Kirk & Nice Funeral Home at George Washington Memorial Park located at 80 Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462, with visitation from 9:30AM to 11:00AM and celebration of life and sharing of memories immediately afterwards from 11:00AM to 12:00 noon.
