Obituary of Lenie Jager

Leentje Willempje Jager of Plymouth Meeting, PA, passed away on October 17, 2013.

Lenie "Oma," was born in Zwijndrecht, Holland, a daughter of Dirk van der Ploeg and Leentje Willempje Zwart, on Nov. 24, 1930.

As newlyweds, Lenie, and her husband Hendrik "Henk," of Winschoten, Holland, immigrated to Canada in 1952.

Their sons, Adolph and Richard, were born in Ontario, and daughter Eileen in Iowa. They settled in Plymouth Meeting in 1958.

Henk died in 1966, leaving a young wife and children. Lenie chose to stay in PA and raised her family here.

Lenie loved to travel, garden, and enjoyed the beauty of nature. Recently returned from a trip to Holland with her daughter, she enjoyed every moment spent with family, friends, flowers and favorite places. She lived long and well.

Lenie was active in the Norristown Garden Club, Questors, and volunteered with the American Red Cross.

Survivors include her children Adolph, wife Molly, of Sellersville; Richard, wife Sheila, of Hatboro; and Eileen of Easthampton, MA. Her grandchildren Philip, Corinne, and William. Step-grandchildren Danny Ruch, partner Donna; and Jeff Ruch, wife Amy, and great step-grandchildren Ethan and Cole. Lenie was preceded in death by brother Anton and sister Lamien. She leaves behind three sisters in Holland, Henny, Co and Marianne. Lenie touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.

The memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 9, at Kirk and Nice Funeral Home,

80 Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, PA.

Friends and family will be received at 10 with the service to follow at 10:30.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Scholarship Fund, in memory of Lenie Jager, may be sent to the Norristown Garden Club;
