January 13, 1929 – October 26, 2022
Leonard D. Missimer of Pottstown passed away on October 26, 2022 at the age of 93. He was born to Joseph and Lydia (Miley) Missimer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Joseph, sister Mary Lou (Missimer) Wojciechowski, and former spouse of over 20 years, Eleanor (Wahowski) Missimer. Also remembering those children who have passed all too soon: James Missimer, Diana Claypole, and Scott Exley.
Len attended Chester High School and later Penn State University, Brandywine campus. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from PECO/Exelon after 40 years of service. His memberships included the Quarter Century Club, Lower Pottsgrove Sportsman Association, and Boy Scouts of America as a scout leader. He was also one of the founding members of New Hanover United Methodist Church, Boyertown, and is associated with Penn Christian Academy (East Norriton) and Innabah Christian Camp. His loves included camping, automobiles, woodworking, target shooting, and travel.
Surviving family members are: Wife of 37 years Evelyn Missimer, Daughters Eleanor, Patricia (James Cochran), Carol Snyder (Paul), Shirley Exley, and Sons Leonard, Jr. (Debbie), David(Pam), and Michael. Grandchildren: Thomas (Jenni), Brian, Stephen, and Mark Snyder, Ryan and Hannah Claypole, Claire Missimer, William Missimer, Jaid and Remington Mark, Mia (Josh Pless), Scott Exley, Jr., Melisa (Michael Romano), and Paul (Starr) DeVito. Len is also survived by ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 2 PM followed by his funeral service at 3 PM at New Hanover United Methodist Church, 2211 Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville, PA 19525.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the American Cancer Society at donate3.cancer.org would be appreciated.
