July 3, 1924 – October 14, 2020
Lucy Adams Jackson was born in Cokesbury, Greenwood County, South Carolina on July 3, 1924. She was one of 9 siblings of Ben and Mami Adams. Lucy graduated from Allen University in South Carolina and moved to Philadelphia where she spent the majority of her life.
Lucy was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church and formerly Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
A former educator, Lucy taught at Roosevelt High School for over 14 years. After retiring she was actively involved in family life and caring for her grandchildren. In addition to spending time with family and friends, she enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, gardening and a fun time playing Poker.
Lucy was married to her late beloved husband, Jarrett H. Jackson for 26 years prior to his death in 1973.
She is survived by her two children Jarrett Walter Jackson and Gwendolyn Jackson Wilson; a daughter in law, Wilhelmina; three grandsons, Erik Wilson and wife, Brandi, Jarrett A. Jackson and wife Alison, and Marc Wilson; and two great grandchildren, Erik and Cooper.
Lucy had a long and fulfilled life before peacefully falling asleep and passing on from this life surrounded by her two loving children, Jarrett and Gwendolyn.
She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
