Luis Alvarez, 61, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Luis was born in Guatemala to Juan and Maria (nee: Narciza) Alvarez on June 21, 1964.   He worked as a chef for Whitemarsh Valley Country Club and most recently Blue Stone County Club. He was a kind and hardworking man.  He enjoyed animals, taking care of his horses and sheep, and going to the beach, watching and going to the Philadelphia Phillies games. Most of all, Luis loved being with his grandchildren.

Luis is survived by his devoted wife, Maria De Leon; son, Crosby and Marissa (nee: Ginley) Alvarez; Grandchildren, Kaden, Sofia, Alessandro, and Keytlin; Nephews, Edwin Alvarez-Martinez and Oliver Alvarez-Martinez; and Daughter-In-Law Sayda Monzon. He is preceded in death by his son, Alan Alvarez.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 6 PM to 8 PM and on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 10 AM to 11 AM at Kirk and Nice Funeral Home, Plymouth Meeting. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11 AM. Father Jeffrey Rott will be officiating.

Luis will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
