Obituary of Luz Velez
Luz Velez, Born 1/16/1927, San German, Puerto Rico, USA.
Luz Velez, age 88 of Manor Care, Pike Creek passed away peacefully on 5/11/15 surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who worked for the Sheraton Hotel in Dover, and retired from Modern Maturity Center in Dover, DE. She enjoyed sewing, watching TV, reading, cooking, dancing & singing, gardening and spending time at the beach and time with her family.
She was predeceased by her mother Salvadora Gonzalez Albino and father Pedro Velez. Luz unselfishly and lovingly was the main caregiver for over 40 years to her adult handicapped daughter, Maria. She will be remembered for her gracious personality and warm, infectious smile and saying "Dios te Bendiga" (God Bless you), to all who came across her path.
She is survived by her loving four children: Lollie P. Villanueva and her husband Tali Villanueva of Fenwick Island DE, Gloria Boone & husband Thomas Boone of Wilm, DE, Maria Padilla of Felton DE, Leonides P. Velez & his wife, Kathy Velez of Camden DE, granddaughters Tina Villanueva, Michelle Villanueva Bell and husband Ken Bell, Shanna Villanueva, Melissa Smith and husband Tim Smith, Suzanne Keblen & husband Sean Keblen, Jeanine Antoine & husband Jason Antoine, 9 great-grandchildren & surviving sister Cashilda Velez and husband Esteban Velez of Canovanas, PR, nieces Silvia Arroyo & Hilda Arroyo, and special friends Kristen DiFilippo, Denise Reed & Stephanie Finley.
The family would like to thank the medical professionals at Manor Care, Pike Creek, DE who provided dedicated caring support for many years.
