IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Catherine
Sullivan
July 29, 1962 – August 24, 2025
After a hard-fought battle with cancer sadly, Margaret (Maggie) C. Sullivan, 63 passed on August 24,2025.
Maggie was the daughter of the late William F., Sr., and Rita C. (nee Cressman) and was also pre-deceased by her older brother, William F. and his wife Elizabeth. Maggie will be deeply mourned by her surviving sister and brother Rita A. Kirkwood (Dennis) and Gerald F., her niece Megan Leigh Urso (Chad) and her many friends, co-workers, and fellow-Janeites.
Arrangements are being handled by Kirk & Nice Funeral Home, Plymouth Meeting PA and her interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. A Memorial gathering to celebrate Maggie's life is planned for a future date.
Maggie held several positions during her long working career, but none meant more to her than her work at Duane Morris, a prestigious center city Law firm in Philadelphia, where she was their Web Content Manager. Here, she found challenging and gratifying work but, more importantly, many close friends.
Maggie was born a writer. Her early talent was encouraged and fostered by her many trips to the library starting at the age of nine years old. Without fail she would bring home a bag of books weekly. She sharpened her skills at Penn State University while majoring in English and Journalism. Later in life she became an accomplished author and had several books published (The Jane Austen Handbook: A Sensible Yet Elegant Guide to Her World, Jane Austen Cover to Cover and There Must Be Murder) as well as contributing several short stories to various anthologies on Jane Austen. And, at a time when the word "blog" was not so well known, she created a webpage dedicated to her main source of inspiration…Jane Austen.
Anyone who knew Maggie well also knew of her love for her local baseball team; her love of the Phillies was legendary! From Schmidt to Utley to Hoskins and Schwarber…she loved them all, win or lose.
Using her crocheting skills Maggie also found spare time to create beautiful blankets, doilies, shawls, and sweaters and she was also self-taught in the craft of tatting. She also loved to travel whenever possible to JASNA conventions where she got the chance to mingle and speak with like-minded followers of Jane Austen.
Her family wishes to express their heart-felt gratitude to all the caregivers who administered help, treatment, and love to Maggie during her past two years especially Accent Care Home Care, Accent Care Hospice and her home-health aide Dana who became like a sister to Maggie. In lieu of flowers anyone wishing to make a donation in Maggie's name could consider the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
