Obituary of Martha Layfield

Mrs. Martha M. Layfield of Plymouth Meeting passed away January 20th, 2011 at Norristown Hospital. She was 90 years old. Born in Philadelphia on March 17th, 1920 she was the widow of Calvin Layfield of Salisbury, MD. She was a much respected registered nurse and worked for many years at various hospitals and also did private duty nursing at many homes in the Chestnut Hill-Mt. Airy area. She is survived by 2 daughters Patricia Freed-Simpson and her husband Ivan of Mont Clare, PA. and Sharyn Layfield of Vermont. In addition she is survived by 3 grandchildren; Tracey Krebs of Nevada, Terri Murgitroyde of Royersford, and Jonathan Simpson of Bridgeport, as well as 7 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her long time friend and companion Edwin Watson whom she loved and gave a home too after losing his home in a fire 10 years ago. Services and interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the charity of the donor''s choice.
