Mary Jane Dawson, 99, of Lower Gwynedd, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Springhouse Estates surrounded by family members.
Mary Jane Dawson was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas and Anna (nee: Brown) Raby on September 9, 1926. She graduated from Germantown High School and earned an Associate Degree in General Studies from Montgomery County Community College in 1980. She worked at Leeds and Northup as a bookkeeper for 11 years and. at Strawbridge's and at H&R Block. She enjoyed playing bridge and gin rummy, dancing, swimming, reading, walking and bird watching. She was involved in Meals on Wheels, the Wyncote Woman's Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She and Frank enjoyed extensive travel adventures across Europe and the United States. She was especially fond of the beach and throughout her life enjoyed family vacations in Ocean City, New Jersey, and Rodante, North Carolina. They were longtime members of First Presbyterian Church of Germantown and Calvary Presbyterian Church of Wyncote.
She had a quick gentle wit, continued to make friends throughout her life, and cherished time with her family and friends.
Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Susan Ellsworth (Les) of The Woodlands, Texas, two sons, Wrightson (Effie) of Arnold, Maryland, Thomas (Jean) of Sausalito, California, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, Thomas and Anna Raby, and siblings Thomas Raby, Richard Raby, Robert Raby, Betty Raby and Barbara Weiss.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary Jane's visitation on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 11 AM to noon at Kirk and Nice Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at Noon at Kirk and Nice Funeral Home.
Mary Jane will be laid to rest at Westminster Cemetery, 701 Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
