Obituary of Mary Shuman

Mary Homoiselle DeShields Moss Shuman, of Jenkintown, PA on April 26, 2014. Age 93. Daughter of the late Virgil DeShields Moss and Marjorie Price Moss, she was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 9, 1920. As a youth, she was a junior olympian in gymnastics and was well trained in ballet. Mary was a graduate of Friends Academy of Philadelphia and Gettsyburg College in 1940, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She also attended the Moore Institute of Design in Philadelphia and continued to have a lifelong interest in fashion. She appeared in a number of musical theatre productions with the Abington Players Theatre Group. Mary was an avid world traveler. She also enjoyed summers with her family at the Jersey Shore.

Beloved wife of Dr. Charles R. Shuman for 70 years. Loving mother of Dr. Charles "Ross" Shuman (Mary) and Dr. Sandra DeSante (Robert). Fondly known as GiGi by her grandchildren the late Christian Shuman, Drs. Charles and Kristie Shuman, the late Lili Shuman, Kelly Colin Shuman, and Robert DeSante. Dear sister of Jane Brown. Affectionately known as Aunt Homie to her many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Temple University Medical School or Gettysburg College.
