Obituary of Maurice Kravis
Mr. Maurice M. Kravis passed away on October 24th, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown. He was 92 years old. Maurice attended Panzer College in New Jersey where he was a member of the Gymnastics Team. He then entered the Army Air Corps where he became a master sergeant and received a Bronze Star while serving in London during World War II. Upon returning from service he was introduced and later married his wife Harriet who he was married to for 58 years. He and Harriet settled in West Orange, NJ where they spent 25 years raising their family. During that time he was a very active member of the Masons, serving as a Master and Past Master. It was here that he also worked for National Printing Company until he retired. After retiring Maurice and Harriet split their time between Manalapan, NJ, Boca Raton, FL and later Port St. Lucie, FL. In February 2005, after Harriet's passing he moved to the Country Meadows Assisted Living in Allentown where he remained until the time of his death. While at Country Meadows, he was very active in the community there and participated in many of their programs and was happy to be closer to his family who he spent a great deal of time with. Maurice was also an avid golfer and enjoyed volunteering his time with the Special Olympics. He was preceded in death by his Wife Harriet (nee Yanow) and his brother Philip. He is survived by his daughter Robin Abbott and her husband Allen of Orefield, PA, his son Elliot of Martinez, CA, his grandchildren Douglas Abbott of New York, NY, Bryan Abbott, and Rachelle Pearson and her husband John of Martinez, CA, his brothers Irwin and Herbert of NJ as well as his great-grandchildren Paige and Brent Pearson.
