Patricia L. Saunders of Blue Bell, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26th 2023, at the age of 83. Patricia was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 27, 1939. After living in many places while her father served in the Marine Corps, the family moved to Hampton, VA. Patricia spent much of her childhood there, and graduated from Blue Ridge School in Saint George, VA. After high school, she made a cross country road trip by herself ending up in California, with many adventures along the way. She spent a short time living in California but missed her home and family and returned to the Philadelphia area where she worked and became involved with riding and caring for show horses. She loved horses and her work with horses became one of her passions with which she was involved for many years. Patricia also loved music. She sang in her church choirs and was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. She attended many, many of Elvis' concerts and visited Graceland many times.
Patricia spent 30 years working at Unisys, retiring in 2003. She lived in Blue Bell for 50 years and loved it there. In addition to her passion for horses and music, she also enjoyed bowling and spending time with friends and family. She loved sports, especially the Phillies and the Eagles. She was deeply involved with her church, Church of The Messiah in Lower Gwynedd Twp, PA and spent many years singing in the choir and being involved with the music program. She so enjoyed going to services there and being with her church family. This was very special to her and meant so much to her over the years.
Patricia loved to share stories and adventures with friends, family and strangers alike and she always had kind words for everyone. Her laugh was infectious and she had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed by all her family and friends.
She is pre-deceased by her partner Clifton Swift, her parents, Tilghman Saunders and Catherine Monaghan, her sister, Jane Koenig, and her niece, Kathryn Koenig.
She is survived by her niece and niece's husband, Susan and Kurt Hilss, her nephews Michael Hilss, Daniel Hilss, and Kyle Hilss, and her cousins Edward Miller, Robin Lubitz, William Saunders and Peggy Alligood.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Church of The Messiah, Lower Gwynedd Twp., PA. at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. A private burial will be held at St. John's Episcopal Cemetery in Hampton, VA.
