Obituary

Paulo Popov—funny, hardworking BBQ-er extraordinaire—peacefully passed into glory on Thursday, February 28, 2019. Paulo was a man of deep faith, whose favorite book was the Holy Bible. He loved his family unequivocally and enjoyed cooking, traveling, sleeping in hammocks, and being hospitable to all who needed a meal or place to stay.

Although there were many candidates trying to woo Paulo into marriage, he particularly fancied a beautiful Brazilian brunette, Carlita Salles Popov (deceased), who stole his heart not only with her beauty but also by writing love letters until he proposed. They were married for 56 years.

He is survived by his four daughters: Mary Ruth Hibas, Rosalee Popov Massie, Myriam Popov Weiler, and Rachael Popov-Crabtree. He taught them to work hard, make pizza, cook and take care of the orphans and poor, but most of all to love Jesus.

He took extreme pride and joy in his grandchildren, or as he lovingly called them, "maimunas": Rebecca Hibas, Ruth Hibas, Caleb Weiler, Sarah Hibas, Eliana Weiler, Hudson Crabtree, Izabella Crabtree, Katelyn Massie, Brianna Massie, and Melody Massie—who loved him deeply.

All are invited to a visitation on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 10:00-10:30am and a memorial service at 10:30am, both at Kirk and Nice Funeral Home, 80 Stenton Ave. Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. Interment at George Washington Memorial Park to follow.
