Obituary of Philip Spinosa

Spinosa, Philip "Felippo" age 91, of Ardsley, PA passed away December 3, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Torre Dei Nolfi, Italy, he emigrated to Ellis Island in 1935, but settled in Welland, Ontario, Canada, where he joined the Canadian Mounted Army and served alongside American troops in WWII. Philip was also a buglist, and played clarinet in the army band. He met his wife Elsie (nee Silvestri), while visiting relatives in Germantown, and they were married in 1946. He built his own home in 1958 in Ardsley, where he lived until his death. He enjoyed a long career as a heavy equipment operator and was an avid gardener and cook, making his own wine. In addition to the joy his family provided him, he also shared his life with his favorite pal, his German Shepherd, Princess. Bowling and hunting were also among his passions. Elsie preceded him in death in December 2007, after 62 years of a loving and happy marriage. He is survived by his children; Philip Spinosa (Barbara), Angela Riggs (Joseph), Anthony Spinosa (Elizabeth) and Donna Spinosa-Krebs (William). He is also survived by brothers Andy and Joe, 12 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Philip was preceded in death by a brother Angelo in 1978."He worked relentlessly, shared willingly, and loved unconditionally throughout his life. A sincere gentle man with a huge heart who was loved by many. He will rest at peace with the Lord."

In lieu of flowers, any donations in his memory made to Moss Rehab Einstein at Elkins Park 60 Township Line Road Elkins Park, PA 19027, would be greatly appreciated.
