Obituary of Pieter Platten
PLATTEN, PIETER JACOBUS, son of Peter Platten and Sieta van Eesteren, was born in the U. S. Army General Hospital in Stuttgart, Germany on May 14, 1952, where his father, a Captain, was stationed with the 108th Field Artillery Battalion, 28th Infantry Division, at Goppingen, died on Feb. 9, 2009.
Pieter graduated from Germantown Academy in 1970, where he started at the original Germantown location. He attended Babson College and graduated from Bennington College, Vermont, with a B.S. in Political Science. He earned his MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Pieter was vice president of Sand Springs Mineral Water Company in Williamstown, MA before moving to Cincinnati, where he resided for over 25 years.
Pieter''s interests included travel, world history, family-both in the U.S. and Europe. He divided his football loyalties between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Philadelphia Eagles, but the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies held his baseball heart.
Pieter is survived by his parents in addition to his sister, Christien P. Bauer, his brother, Thomas B. Platten, nieces and nephew.
