Obituary of Renee Rogen

Renee A. Rogen (M. Renee Austin) , passed away on August 22, 2012 in Malvern, PA. after a long illness, and was a 30 year resident of Rosemont, PA. She was the beloved mother of Renee Bolleter Austin and Ronald Elliot Castro; grandmother of Marc D. Gallo, Erica and Wesley Castro; great-grandmother to Ashley Jade LaRue (Gallo). She was born to the late Mabel Reba Myers and Albert Rene Austin on Sept. 17, 1926, and grew up in the Oxford Circle Section of Phila. She was the loving sister of the late Jayne Dahms-Breedon, Andrew Kauffman, and George Kauffman. She attended Laura H. Carnell Elementary School and Dobbins Vocational School in Phila.

She was crowned the first Mrs. Levittown in 1954, and later became a professional model and did work in early television. She later became a secretary which she continued for nearly sixty years working for Philco, Fidelity Bank, Dr. Lacy Hunt, John Hancock, with her last job being Executive Assistant to the late Hon. Walter H. Annenberg. She enjoyed every aspect of this unique job and her warmth, congeniality and phenomenal secretarial skills were much appreciated.

She loved to do crossword puzzles, knit, sew, read, write poetry, paint watercolors, listen to music, and socialize with her friends and family. She was a peace-lover and animal lover and wrote many letters advocating for both. Her loveliness and natural elegance were surpassed only by her loving and compassionate spirit. She loved to laugh, have fun and had a way of making everyone feel special.

In leiu of flowers, a memorial contribution to an animal charity, or a simple act of kindness would be appreciated.
