Obituary

Robert T. "Bob" Hinkle Jr., a beloved husband, father, and esteemed professional, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Born on April 3, 1939, to Robert T. Hinkle Sr. and Ruth (Nee Thompson), Bob spent his formative years in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he developed a deep connection to the community and a lifelong passion for technology and sports.

Bob graduated from Germantown High School in 1957, and began his career at the Philadelphia Bulletin, where he quickly became an integral part of the computer team, demonstrating a keen aptitude for technology and innovation. His career path took a significant turn following the closure of the Philadelphia Bulletin, leading him to the Philadelphia Stock Exchange and eventually to a computer consulting firm. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, Bob founded his own company, R&R Computers, where he consulted with Atlantic Electric and Pepco Holdings on their mainframe systems.

In October 1971, Bob married Joyce, the love of his life, with whom he shared a profound and enduring bond. Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership, and together they raised two sons, Robert, born in 1974, and Jeffrey, born in 1979. His sons were the pride and joy of his life, and he took immense pleasure in watching them grow and succeed.

Bob was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, a devotion that was evident in his unwavering support for the Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies. He held season tickets for the Flyers since 1970, a testament to his loyalty and enthusiasm for the team. His love for sports was matched by his affection for the Jersey Shore, particularly Wildwood and Ocean City, where he spent countless summers creating cherished memories with family and friends. Bob also had a love for travel, exploring historic sites across the country, cruises and reveling in the magic of Disney and other theme parks.

In addition to his professional achievements and family life, Bob found joy in golfing and bowling, hobbies that provided him with relaxation and camaraderie throughout his life. His warmth, humor, and zest for life were infectious, and he was known for his ability to bring people together, creating a sense of community wherever he went. Bob also enjoyed attending live music events all across the region enjoying music of the 50's 60's and 70's.

Robert T. "Bob" Hinkle Jr.'s memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, dedication, and passion will continue to inspire those who knew him.
